Translated versions of the National Fuel Security Campaign are available.
Amid global disruptions to oil and gas supplies, the Australian Government - in partnership with state and territory governments - is taking action to safeguard fuel supply and keep Australia moving through the National Fuel Security Plan (national plan), endorsed by National Cabinet.
To support these efforts, the National Fuel Security campaign ran from 13 April 2026 until 30 June 2026.
Drivers are encouraged to adopt simple, practical behaviours to use less fuel – helping our supply to go further and saving fuel for our truckies, farmers and essential services.
The tagline ‘Every little bit helps’ shows a shared responsibility to fuel consumption and fuel efficiency as a key component of the National Fuel Security Plan.

Ernie Dingo for National Fuel Security Campaign
Looking after our fuel and looking after our mob.
Good day. I'm Ernie Dingo and I want to have a quick yarn with you about the government's response to the worldwide fuel shortage that's happening at the moment.
To keep Australia moving, the government has set up a level four National Fuel Security Plan.
At the moment, we're at level two. We can do better. We can still find more ways to save fuel. The government has a website, fuelplan.gov.au and they can show you and businesses can show you more ways of saving fuel especially in your area.
We'll keep you updated as information comes to hand. Until then, keep looking out for each.
